Easy way to install virtual box in Kubuntu

The easiest way to install the virtual box in Kubuntu is to install it via the Discover tool. The other alternative option is to directly add the repo URL of the virtual box and install it from that repo.

You can also install the virtual box in Kubuntu by downloading the .deb package from the virtual box site and struggle with its dependency challenges. Installation with the Discover tool is straightforward, but the only thing that you have to take care of is the search term.

Install Virtual Box

Open the Discover tool, and search for “virtualbox” with no space and all in lower case. This would list the official QT version of Virtual Box that is compatible with Kubuntu and other KDE variants of Linux distros.

Click the install button and wait for the installation to complete.

Start the virtual box from the terminal by executing the command “virtualbox”. From the task manager, right-click the “Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager” window and select the “Pin to Task Manager”. This would add a shortcut to VirtualBox in Task Manager and will also make it available while you search for apps in the start menu.

That’s it. Now you are good to use VirtualBox in Kubuntu.
